NCTA’S “10G” TRADEMARK: IS IT A REALITY?

NCTA- The Internet & Television Association is partnering with CableLabs and Cable Europe and has come with the new news about the broadband services and has begun with its technology crusade for 10 gigabits per second – to provide their service to U.S consumer and with upcoming years consumers around the world.

As cable companies are still dealing with 1Gbps connection at this point of time, NCTA is campaigning about their 10G home broadband services with head title of “10G: The Next Great  Leap for Broadband” with a launch of new 10G website.

Sped of 10G Broadband has been tested in a home in the former Olympic village in east London.

NCTA has already trademarked the word “10G”.

But here rise the confusion of the people who aren’t aware with the daily world of telecommunications as they can create a misconception about 10G network being twice of 5G (fifth generation mobile technology).

NCTA is up for some thunder with 10G in the lightening of 5G on the internet business. As 5G is a new name for mobile brand in that comparison 10G is for home internet services.

NCTA says, “10G is an extraordinary movement, and we are proud to be part of it.”

Shortening 10 Gigabits per second to 10G is a great marketing strategy.

But question arises that is it possible in reality to have 10Gbps download and 1Gbps upload speed?

As in 2013, DOCSIS 3.1 has also made movement towards this 10G concept but hasn’t harmonized with theoretical claims.

Currently actual cable services in U.S provides speed of 1Gbps download and 35mbps upload so to meet 10Gbps download with 1Gbps upload speed reality will take a pile of time.

This innovative invention of 10G comes with the challenge of convincing the customer of the need for such vastly higher speeds today and decisively gets them to pay a higher monthly bill.

As NCTA says, the first 10Gbps cable broadband connection will be deployed in the field trails in 2020, so we have to wait to see the performance of this new 10G broadband home internet service with its reach between the consumers and the practicality of its theoretical claims.
