The new tale of broadcasting rights

Very recently the court has granted injunction to Raj T.V for using the sound recordings and images owned by Sony Music. The judgment does not have any factual significance but it has gone down to alleging Raj T.V to forbid from using their work. The court in its judgment seven movies in which Raj T.V has been using the copyrighted work of Sony without prior approval. Raj T.V used both sound recording, underlying literary and musical works.

The Court passed interim injunction restraining Raj T.V from communicating to the public various works in which Sony own the copyrights through network, websites and other devices. Even though Raj T.V is a broadcasting channel, it has been licensed by the film producers to broadcast those movies. Here, Raj T.V could have turned the case had it obtained license for also the underlying copyrighted works. This case shall be dealt in detail as and when the facts if the case is clear and this aspect of copyright law deserve special attention.
